Career Portal: Next Steps

Replacing the Career Portal with Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC) is a significant milestone for the university. We’ve successfully made the leap but the journey is only just beginning! 

Unlike our old system, a cloud-based solution like ORC is a dynamic one that is optimized and refined based on real-world usage. It is continually evolving to remain responsive to the complex needs of organizations like the University. Rather than big, annual updates, cloud-based solutions offer more frequent and regular updates and it will require ongoing learning and refinement. 

Here is what to expect over the next few months.

Now until November 30 - Hypercare/Warranty Period

During this period, you may encounter scenarios where certain functions do not perform as expected or where you experience minor performance fluctuations. With the vendor and project teams, we’re actively monitoring and triaging issues to ensure the system’s core functions are working correctly. 

Based on your feedback, the following items are currently being investigated and prioritized for resolution:

• Sorting & filtering job postings - Some job postings are missing categories and may limit applicants’ capability to filter roles effectively. 
• French language capabilities -  An interim solution has been introduced to ensure the content of the job postings will be published in French. We have also begun translating recruitment user guides and other materials to better service the needs of our community. Discovery with our implementor and technical teams is underway to determine potential solutions.
• Font size - Some users have identified that the font size on the Career Portal is difficult to read. Accessibility improvements are under review. 

December to February - Further stabilization and continuous improvement

The focus shifts to smoothing out remaining issues and prioritizing opportunities for improvement. This phase is about continuing to build confidence with the system and potentially refining processes to enhance the recruitment experience for all users. Watch for details on information sessions for hiring managers and employees to learn more about the Career Portal and navigate its features.

March and beyond 

Based on real experiences with the system and your feedback, we’ll look to incorporate more of ORC’s advanced technology to enhance the Career Portal. We’ll share updates on fixes and new features regularly.
