The 2023 Schattschneider Lecture in Nursing Ethics presents Ethics of the Nurse's Touch and How the Pandemic Changed Everything.

Join Faculty of Nursing Assistant Professor Dr. Gillian Lemermeyer as she explores embodied ethics in healthcare and how they are revealed through the nurse's practice of physical nearness and contact with patients. She will touch on phenomenological research exploring the nature and meaning of the neonatal nurse's touching gestures and movements. Dr. Lemermeyer will reflect on the interruption and disruption caused to the touching practices of nurses by the COVID-19 pandemic and its restrictions, in ways that have both facilitated and harmed relational practice, patient care, and nurse well-being.

The Schattschneider Nursing Ethics Lectureship was established to highlight the importance of nursing ethics and provide an opportunity for Nurses and other health professionals to discuss ethical issues that are impacting nurses and patient care. Hazel Magnussen endowed the Schattschneider Nursing Ethics Lectureship at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Alberta.

Please register by Thursday, March 9th, 2023.
This is a complimentary event with light refreshments and is open to all faculty, staff, students, alumni and their guests.
