Artificial Intelligence Meets Animal Biology

Artificial Intelligence was not a career path student Priscilla Adebanji considered, until presented an opportunity to develop software for bird research. Thanks to donor funding, Priscilla was able to focus on creating motion-detecting software with potential applications in ecological science, as well as self-driving vehicles and drones. Read more »

Quantum Horizons Alberta

In 2023, a group of visionary donors gave $25 million to the new Quantum Horizons Alberta (QHA) research network. A partnership of the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary and the University of Lethbridge, QHA brings together world-class scientists to unlock the mysteries of quantum science. Innovation Fund

Fuelled by donor support, the University of Alberta Innovation Fund launched in October, 2023. The fund empowers innovative startups from the U of A and beyond to move from concept to reality, and helps students gain the skills and connections needed to become our next generation of entrepreneurs. Cora Martinson Scholarships

The U of A's Augustana Campus received the largest gift in its history: a donation of $2 million inspired by the legacy of Cora Martinson, a former dean during the 1930s. The gift comes from several alumni, creating two new entrance scholarships to support both international and domestic students at Augustana. Read more »
