Supervisory Committee

Supervisory committees for PhD students will be formed in accordance with Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) regulations. Supervisory committees must be appointed six months into the student's first year in the program and the first supervisory committee meeting must be held within the first 6 months of the student's first year.

Supervisory Committee Composition

The committee will consist of the supervisor(s) and at least two other full-time faculty members (at least one of whom is an NMHI member).

The supervisor/student will suggest names of potential committee members to the Director of Graduate Studies for approval, names will be forwarded to Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) for the final approval.

The supervisory committee members are ex-officio members of the thesis's final examining committee. Attention should be paid to the qualifications of the committee members as examiners to ensure the composition and size of the examination committee will be appropriate.
