UAlberta North welcomes Dr. Fiona Schmiegelow as the new Director.
Fiona is a Professor in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Alberta and Director of the Northern Programs for the Faculty.
Her significant expertise and relationships in the North will be a tremendous asset to UAlberta North as it continues to build partnerships with institutions, communities and northern knowledge-holders, and to support students and faculty working in the region.
The Ashley and Janet Cameron Endowment provides funding to boost Northern and Circumpolar research and studies at the University of Alberta.
In the spirit of the Cameron endowment, the Cameron Visiting Scholar Program will contribute to enhancing the teaching and research activity of the University of Alberta and to building cooperation and relationships with faculty engaged in Northern/Circumpolar research.
Meet our prior Visiting Scholar Dr Paul Harrison, holder of the Cameron Visiting Scholar from 31 March – 30 April 2019. Paul is a researcher in Contemporary Arts Practice at the University of Dundee, Scotland. Paul is involved in projects in the Northwest Territories, particularly with the Tlicho and Dehcho Dene through collaboration with Gavin Renwick (Art and Design). While here, he will also be working with Sean Caulfield (Art and Design).
