How to Apply
This JLPT is hosted by the Prince Takamado Japan Centre at the University of Alberta. Thus, we are going to follow the University of Alberta COVID-19 protocols in effect. Please read very carefully BEFORE you apply for the exam.
- No refund will be accepted if you miss the test due to the conditions that we cannot control, including sickness, inability to travel, border closures.
- We request anyone who has any COVID-19 symptoms or a positive test to self-isolate. Staying home and taking care of yourself when feeling unwell is important for your health and reduces exposure to others.
- The university encourages that all faculty, staff, students and visitors to all U of A campuses wear non-medical face masks (masks) at all times in all university indoor common-use spaces.
- Please always follow the instructions given by the on-staff site at the venue.
Application Period
Registration will be open on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 10 am (MDT). All applications must be received no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, September 29, 2023 (MDT). Late or incomplete applications WILL NOT be accepted.
Application Methods
All applicants must download and read carefully the JLPT 2023 Test Guide for the JLPT in Edmonton.
*The application deadline for the Request for Special Testing Accommodation for the December JLPT is September 13, 2023. Please see the Special Testing Accommodations for the details.
* Please note that sections of the Test Guide may not apply to application process for the Edmonton JLPT, as it is a general document created to accommodate testing sites worldwide. In instances where the Test Guide differs from the PTJC website, online application, etc., instructions provided by the PTJC should be followed.
* Please note: There may be extra questions in the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test which do not count toward your score. These questions work in order that the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services are able to make test scores comparable across administrations or to determine how new questions function under actual test conditions.
