Why Us?
Experience the Augustana Advantage
As a small campus of the U of A, our size and exclusive focus on undergraduate education allow us to be exceptionally responsive to your needs and provide you with the individual attention you deserve.

“The most rewarding part of my Augustana experience has been seeing the effort my professors put into their classes. Each professor has their own way of engaging their class, and when I saw this effort it's almost as if it urged me to show my appreciation, which was reflected in my marks.”

“Being a student-athlete at Augustana has always provided me with the opportunity to enhance my transferable skills, both on and off the court. One of my favorite memories as a Viking was playing in the 2018-19 Volleyball Provincials!”

The demands of our world are changing, why shouldn’t your education?
At Augustana, you have the option to move outside the usual subjects and explore related but unique interdisciplinary majors! These majors will give you the ability to customize your degree, explore your interests, and learn the skills needed to excel in the workplace, graduate school, or professional programs.
At the heart of all programs is our Project-Based Core — four courses that build on each other year after year, starting with the First Year Seminar course. This course is designed to introduce students to university-level learning by guiding you to look at a topic of interest from multiple perspectives. After completing the First Year Seminar, you will have the skills and confidence you need to succeed at university
By working with other students to tackle real-world issues, you will be preparing yourself for the constantly changing workplaces of the future. Completing projects in partnership with community organizations will help you develop skills not just as an academic, but as a valuable employee and citizen.
Each semester begins with a 3-week block — a short, focused period where you only take one course! With only one subject to focus on, you'll be able to spend more time in activities that wouldn't easily fit in a traditional class structure. The 3-week block is followed by an 11-week block where you can take three to four courses instead of the traditional five.
Learn about other cultures, refine language skills, test classroom theories, perform practical research, test your limits in the outdoors, and experience a new part of the globe!
Looking to stay closer to campus? Take part in hands-on experiences with local businesses and organizations to develop connections between theory and practice, while building relationships with potential employers.
