Ukraine's Ambassador to Canada Visits the University of Alberta

Ambassador Andriy Shevchenko, Head of Mission of the Embassy of Ukraine in Ottawa, paid a courtesy visit to the University of Alberta on 15 April. Accompanied by Olesia Luciw-Andryjowycz, President of the Alberta Provincial Council of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, he was hosted at a Faculty Club lunch by Drs. Volodymyr Kravchenko and Bohdan Klid of the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, and joined by representatives from the university community. Among those in attendance were Dr. Randy Goebel, the U of A's Associate Vice-President for Research and Academic; Dr. Joseph Patrouch, Director of the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies; Dr. Heather Coleman, of the Department of History; Mr. Radomir Bilash, of the University of Alberta Senate; and Dr. Svitlana Krys, of Grant MacEwan University. Ambassador Shevchenko complimented CIUS on the important work it is doing, and said he looks forward to learning more about the institute on future visits to Edmonton.
