We’d also like to remind you that units like the Office of the Dean of Students are here to help you, should you have any students who may need an exam accommodation or who have expressed a concern about their ability to complete their remote exam for any reason.

If a student requests your help deferring or accommodating an exam, here are some options to consider:

Option 1

Offer your prepared alternative exam method.

Option 2

In some cases, an incomplete grade may be a good option. This allows the student to complete the course at a later time. Learn more in the University Calendar.

Option 3

Direct the student to contact the Office of the Dean of Students. You may use the following text as a template if you wish:

“To ensure that you have the correct support in place for your individual situation, please email the Office of the Dean of Students at dosdean@ualberta.ca immediately. They’ll be able to determine the best accommodation for you.”

Option 4

If a student qualifies for Credit without completing the final assessment, consider assigning Credit right away.

The Office of the Dean of Students will help find the best accommodation for you as quickly as they can.
