New Government of Alberta public health measures announced

15 September 2021

Posted: September 15, 8:30 p.m.

Tonight, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney declared a public health emergency in the province of Alberta and announced new provincial restrictions. These temporary measures are in place to reduce the impacts of COVID-19 on the health care system. The University of Alberta will be further evaluating the restrictions for our campuses, and will provide you with an update Thursday, September 16.

Anyone already working from home should continue to do so. If you are not scheduled to be on campus tomorrow, or can work remotely, please stay home.

On-campus social events and extracurricular activities will be paused until further notice as we determine how these activities will be impacted by the new measures. Information regarding sport, fitness, recreation and performance activities will be provided prior to September 20.

Fall Term Registration Deadline Extended

If you are unsure about adding/dropping your classes, please know that there will be more time to make decisions about your schedule. In light of tonight’s provincial announcement, the university is extending our Fall Term Registration Deadline to Monday, September 20. Some exceptions may apply, for more information please see this website

Thank you for your continued cooperation, compassion, and compliance with our measures. Your efforts matter; our collective efforts matter. Please watch your inbox for the next update before the end of the week.
