All 59 COVID-19 positive cases reported by AHS linked to an off-campus Health Sciences Orientation Week event on August 27 are now fully recovered and/or have completed their required self-isolation periods. The positive cases were from various health science programs. There have been no additional cases associated with the outbreak.

In response to the outbreak, the University activated its rapid response plan which is designed to provide support to those who test positive and to prevent the further spread of virus on university campuses.

Thank you for your ongoing support of one another throughout this pandemic. Please continue to use the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist before you head to campus. And remember: If you’re feeling sick, stay home, notify your supervisor or instructor, and follow Alberta Health Services advice.

Following Alberta’s public health notification protocols, outbreaks are reported publicly when five or more cases are clinically confirmed. Institutional outbreaks will remain on Alberta’s public listing of facilities affected by an outbreak until four weeks have passed without a confirmed case of transmission.
