Swim Club

The main purpose of the Swim Club is to get exercise, improve swimming skills, and meet new people who share a love for swimming.

The University of Alberta Swim Club (UASC) is both a recreational and competitive club. We aim to improve swimming technique, offer a source of exercise, as well as create a fun community for our members. Our club is open to swimmers with a wide range of ability, from those who may not know the four competitive strokes, to those who have swam competitively in the past. We only require that each member is comfortable swimming 25 meters and being in deep water.

History

The UASC was founded by Calvin Howard in 2015 with the purpose of offering something that is between lap swimming and varsity swimming. Starting as a small club of around 25-30 members, the swim club has drastically evolved over the years, with a current total of 76 members. Coaching was originally performed by Calvin alone, but today we offer training to three separate levels, Learn to Train, Training to Train, and Training to Compete, each with their own coach and distinct practice. We have also grown to a point of attending masters meets in and out of the province.
