Access to North Campus during 116 Street construction

EPCOR is completing construction related to fire hydrant upgrades on 116 Street between 87 and 89 Avenue, adjacent to Varsity Field on North Campus.

Construction will start around October 23 and take about four weeks to complete, weather permitting. Vehicles and pedestrians that use this section of 116 Street to access campus may need to find alternate routes during the construction period.

There are multiple worksites in this area, including around the Universiade Pavilion (Butterdome) and Clare Drake Arena. Please stay out of all work areas and respect the surrounding neighbourhood.

116 Street access to the Varsity Field Lot will remain open. Vehicles accessing Windsor Car Park and Stadium Car Park are encouraged to enter and exit 116 Street via Saskatchewan Drive or Emily Murphy Park Road.

Pedestrians coming from Lister Centre are encouraged to access the rest of campus through the Varsity Field Lot or from the south side of 87 Avenue by taking the crosswalk to the Van Vliet Centre or at 114 Street.

Use traffic signals when crossing as a pedestrian. Only cross when the signal says to, and don’t start crossing if the light is flashing or starting to count down.
