SERU Survey
Your voice, your experience: Take the Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) survey

About the SERU Survey
The U of A is proud to join a global network of top research-intensive universities, including the University of Toronto, McGill and UC Berkeley, in the SERU Consortium. SERU administers standardized surveys across participating universities to better understand and benchmark the full graduate and undergraduate student experience.
Through this initiative, we’re committing to listening more deeply and understanding your journey — from the classroom and the lab to campus life and beyond.
gradSERU + undergradSERU
Starting in late February 2027, we will invite undergraduate students to lead the way by participating in the U of A’s first SERU Undergraduate Research Survey.
The SERU survey is confidential and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. It explores your undergraduate student experience in depth and reflects the unique opportunities and challenges you may encounter during your program.
We want to hear about
- Overall satisfaction: The quality of your student experience at the U of A.
- Academic experience and personal development: Whether you feel supported, included and valued in your department and how well your program is preparing you for your future career.
- Well-being: Your physical and mental health, financial support and considerations for degree completion.
Who should participate?
All undergraduate students.
Why participate?
Completing SERU is one of the most direct ways you can influence the future of your specific degree program and the broader U of A community, for your benefit and the success of future students.
How can I participate?
The survey will be released in late February to all undergraduate students to their @ualberta.ca e-mail.
Every student has a voice. Make sure yours is heard.
