Student Success

As we celebrated International Women’s day this month, the Canadian Space Agency highlighted five inspiring women working on innovative wildfire solutions — including engineering student, Elizabeth Chao, a UAlberta student and member of student group AlbertaSat, working on the Canadian CubeSat Project. Join us in celebrating two students, Jolene (Jo) Borelli and Mack Johnston, co-founders of The Red Bench, who were featured in a Folio story but also on CBC and CTV Edmonton this month!

Faculty Excellence

Did you catch Assistant Dean, Community, and Culture, Jessica Vandenberghe, at the Panel discussion on Access to Clean Water in Indigenous Communities in Canada? Hosted by the Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW), a part of the  UN Commission on the Status of Womenthe panel discussion also featured experts representing leaders, advocates, and individuals with lived experience. Vandenberghe was also featured in an article on Everything Grand Prairie for her participation in this event.

Dr. Petr Musilek, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is also the President of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences of Alberta. On March 9, Musilek organized a concert to support Ukraine and raised over $6,800 for the Canada Ukraine Foundation. Congratulations to Dr. ​Janet A. W. Elliott, Distinguished Professor and Canada Research Chair in Thermodynamics, Chemical and Materials Engineering, Canada Research Chair in Thermodynamics. Elliott was awarded the Langmuir Lectureship from the American Chemical Society. untitled-design.png
