Over the months of March, April, and May, University of Alberta Alumni across Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver will dedicate their time to serving their community through various opportunities, as part of our Season of Service initiative.
Join the Toronto Alumni Chapter and High Park Nature Stewards to help restore an area of Black Oak Savannah habitat (a globally rare ecosystem!) in beautiful High Park. Work will focus on invasive plant species removal and/or planting native species, depending on what is most needed at the time.
This experience will include an introduction to High Park’s ecology, a tool training session, and 2 hours of supervised work within the park. Gloves and all required tools will be provided.
We hope that you will join us and help make a positive impact with your fellow Alumni!
Lodation
Outdoors; High Park Nature Centre (375 Colborne Lodge Dr, Toronto, ON M6R 2Z3). The exact meeting location will be sent out via email with waiver forms a week prior to the event.
Additional info:
Work will take place outdoors (rain or shine) and will require an appropriate level of physical fitness and mobility (to bend over, engage in light digging, pick up litter and debris), and the ability to walk on uneven terrain. The minimum recommended age is 13 and up.
This event is open to all alumni and their guests.
