Join fellow U of A alumni for an afternoon of adventure at Alberta Theatre Projects for a performance of The Hobbit. Bring your family and friends to follow Bilbo Baggins on an unforgettable journey through Middle-earth, where unexpected friendships, thrilling challenges, and extraordinary discoveries await.

Before the performance, join Alberta Theatre Projects Artistic Director and U of A alumnus, Haysam Kadri, '99 BFA, for an exclusive alumni pre-show talk over pizza. Hear behind-the-scenes stories, learn how this imaginative Canadian adaptation was brought to life, and ask your own questions before the performance.

Whether you're a lifelong fan or discovering The Hobbit for the first time, this family-friendly event is a great opportunity to enjoy live theatre and connect with fellow alumni. This event is open to all alumni and their guests. Limited spaces available.

Special Note from Alberta Theatre Projects

Audience Advisory: The wider world of Middle-earth is filled with beings quite unfamiliar to many young hobbits – a few of which some eyes might find frightening – such as Goblins, Trolls and (gulp) even a Dragon. This show also features staged battles and magic, as well as some theatrical effects (water-based stage haze and fog, flashing lights).

  • Suggested Age: 7+ (While we recognize every young theatregoer is different, this is our general recommendation).
  • Seating Policy: Babes-in-arms are not permitted at Alberta Theatre Projects performances. Children must have their own ticket and be able to sit comfortably in their own seat for the duration of the performance as a courtesy to other guests.
