Starting a company seems like a big step - but what if it began with building skills when you were in grad school, progressed during your postdoc and then it became your career? This may still seem like a big leap, but graduate students and postdocs are finding ways to take their creativity, research knowledge and curiosity to build a better world. Join this session to learn about the steps, challenges and opportunities faced by Dr. Mardin Fallah, from graduate student to building a new biotech company.

Presenter: Dr. Mardin (Asghar) Fallah
Dr. Mardin (Asghar) Fallah is the CEO and Founder of RNARevive. He also holds the position of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Alberta, working in collaboration with Dr. Peter Kannu's lab. His research focuses on developing therapies that utilize RNA-based platforms to build proteins that use a bone-targeted delivery system to treat skeletal disorders such as osteoporosis. Dr. Fallah held an Innovation Catalyst Grant Entrepreurial Fellowship as a University of Alberta postdoc. He received his PhD from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, and as a doctoral student, he also held the positions of Director at the Iranian Institute of Cell and Gene Therapy, and Head of the Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Group for Mede Bioeconomy.
