From Concept to Classroom: How Extended Reality Is Transforming Healthcare Training
Gradually, virtual, augmented, and mixed-reality simulations (XR) are being adopted in healthcare education and in settings where immersive interaction between clinicians and patients can significantly enhance engagement. In this presentation, we will explore some examples that demonstrate XR in practice. Additionally, we will take a glimpse into the short-term future where the intersection of large learning models, machine vision and XR intersect to create training experiences that have the potential to change clinical practices. ELIXR Simulations, a trans-Alberta post-secondary collaboration actively supports the adoption of the potential that XR can offer. Consequently, Alberta is poised to be an international leader in advanced applications of AI-enhanced XR.
Following the keynote, participants are invited to stay for hands-on activities to explore the digital services available - 3D printing, VR lab, audio production and more - at Sperber Library and the Digital Scholarship Centre (2nd level of Cameron).
