Join University of Alberta President Bill Flanagan and ’03 BCom alumna Olivia Lee for an inspiring evening focused on innovation driven by the University of Alberta community.

The evening’s theme, Beyond the Cart: AI, Commerce and the Future of Shopping, is an exclusive invitation for alumni, donors and guests to connect, and discover trailblazing innovation in the world of commerce and retail. Club Lusitano, offers the perfect backdrop for mingling as one of Hong Kong’s oldest social clubs.

Our featured speaker, alumna Olivia Lee, will share her journey of bringing cutting-edge concepts into the physical world where they are open to judgment. She will challenge us to rethink modern commerce, tackling a crucial question: What if checkout is not the end of the transaction, but the beginning of the relationship?

Bill Flanagan

Bill Flanagan is the 14th president and vice-chancellor of the University of Alberta. He launched the largest and most ambitious program of academic and administrative restructuring ever undertaken by a Canadian university. With a vision for the University of Alberta for Tomorrow (UAT), he set the goal of turning the university into a world class university, repositioning the U of A for long-term success.

President Flanagan holds a BA (English and Philosophy) from Carleton University, a JD from the University of Toronto, a DEA in International Economic Law from Université Paris I-Sorbonne, and an LLM from Columbia University. He joined the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University in 1991. In 2001, he founded the faculty’s International Law Program at the Queen’s University Bader International Study Centre at Herstmonceux Castle in the U.K. His scholarly work spans property law, corporate law and international trade law.

Olivia Lee

Olivia Lee is a 2003 Commerce graduate of the University of Alberta and the founder of LIVVIUM, a retail innovation consultancy focused on AI, immersive commerce, and the future of shopping. Recognized as one of the Top 100 Women of the Future in Emerging Technology, she speaks internationally on retail innovation and is also the co-creator of Exposed Layers, a phygital fashion experiment exploring what happens after checkout.
