Could a smartphone become part of your clinical toolkit?
Explore emerging approaches to dementia screening, intervention and community safety. We are proud to be a participating site for AGE-WELL AgeTech Discovery Day on October 1, 2026 — National Seniors Day.
Events across Canada will showcase AgeTech innovations that support healthy aging, and rehabilitation science is at the heart of that work.
Our research talks will feature:
- Antonio Miguel Cruz, Eng., DSc, presenting "AgeTech for Safety, Autonomy, and Community Participation in Dementia". He will explore how GPS, mobile applications and AI-informed data can support the safety, autonomy and community participation of people living with dementia.
- Adriana Ríos Rincón, PhD, presenting "Playing for Health: Mobile Games for Dementia Detection and Intervention". She will discuss how mobile games can help screen for dementia and mild cognitive impairment, as well as how game-based interventions may support cognitive skills.
Participants will also explore AgeTech through hands-on demonstrations and interactive discussions about getting involved in research and innovation.
This initiative is supported through funding from the CIHR Institute of Aging.
