Overview

The University of Alberta’s Career Centre is a source for career and employment information and expertise. The Career Centre offers a variety of programs and services that can help you  build the skills, experience, knowledge, and connections needed to  successfully manage your career. Their programs and services are available to all U of A students, postdoctoral scholars and alumni. Additionally, the Career Centre is available to help local, national, and international employers connect and build relationships with the U of A community.

Benefits

Engaging with the U of A Career Centre can yield a variety of benefits. By accessing available support and services, students and alumni can explore their career options, improve their work search methods and tools,  and prepare for interviews. Students can also connect with  professionals and/or organizations by participating in career mentoring,job shadowing, and internship and work experience programs. All of these opportunities help students build healthy career management skills that will serve them during their entire careers.

  • The programs and services offered at the Career Centre are available to all students, including undergraduate and graduate, as well as postdoctoral scholars and alumni. 
  • There may be specific requirements to certain programs (e.g., Internships and Work Experience Programs).

Recognition + Compensation

  • Program and services offered by the Career Centre are not for academic credit. 
  • Students can explore Grants and Funding for support for professional development activities. 

Duration, Format + Location

  • The duration, format and location will vary depending on the program and/or service.
  • The Career Centre is located in the Student Union Building (2-100, SUB) on the University of Alberta’s North Campus. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (September 1 to April 30) and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (May 1 to August 30).
