MEDIA PRODUCTION SPACES + TOOLS

New users to our Audio Recording Booth or Media Studio will need to complete a two-step certification process before booking their first session.

Audio Recording Booth

GET CERTIFIED BOOK THE AUDIO RECORDING BOOTH: 2-20Q

 

The DSC hosts a soundproof WHISPER ROOM 6084S equipped with:

  • Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Headphones.
  • Audio-Technica AT4040 Condenser Microphone.
  • Scarlett 2i4 2nd Gen Digital Audio Interface.
  • Ableton Live Recording and Mixing Software.
  • Ableton Push controller (available for use in the DSC, please request from staff upon arrival).

Users can book up to 2.5 hours/day, up to 5 hours per week.

Room capacity: 2 People.

Media Studio

GET CERTIFIED BOOK THE MEDIA STUDIO: 2-20F

 

Intended for the creation of video and photography projects, the space includes a backdrop, professional grade lighting, microphones, an object photography light box and a DSLR camera for still photography and video.

Do not remove equipment from the room.
Allot extra time for studio set-up/take-down.
Users can book up to 2.5 hours/day, up to 5 hours per week.
Room capacity: 4 People.

An Epson 12000 XL flatbed scanner
DIGITIZATION STATION

 

An Epson 12000XL-PH large format flatbed scanner is available for digitizing a variety of media. The scanner has a 12.2″ x 17.2″ scanning area with up to 2400 dpi optical resolution.

Workstation capacity: 2 People.

COMPUTERS AND SOFTWARE

 

The DSC provides users with access to software on one of our high gaming quality computers. These machines have a large RAM capacity to handle data-heavy media projects.

A list of software is available according to machine; on-site and drop-in computer use is available, some software is only accessible on-site.


Additional Media Labs on Campus

The U of A's Geoffrey + Robyn Sperber Health Sciences Library also hosts a Media Lab, which is bookable by U of A students, staff, and faculty for academic, non-commercial activities.

The Sperber Lab is fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for your audio and video recording needs. The equipment was generously donated by the Faculty of Medicine + Dentistry.
