Ritsumeikan Summer Japanese Program

This 5-week program is held at Ritusmeikan University, Kinugasa Campus, located in northwestern Kyoto, a 1200-year-old city rich in culture and art. A center of Japanese learning and culture, Kyoto is home to a number of universities and university students. Ritsumeikan University's Kinugasa Campus is surrounded by well-known temples such as Kinkakuji, Ryoanji, Ninnaji, and Tojiin, and is a suitably tranquil setting for research and learning.
The program consists of two components: Japanese language classes and Japanese cultural studies that are based on field trips and lectures by specialists. University of Alberta students are eligible to receive six transfer-credits in a 200-level Japanese option (JAPAN 2XX) or a 300-level Japanese option (JAPAN 3XX) upon successful completion of both components of the entire program.
Please note that the Department of East Asian Studies does not accept credits in JAPAN 2XX or 3XX as substitutes for JAPAN 201, 202, 301, or 302.

- Value: $850 CAD each

- Undergraduate students participating in RSJP
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Statement of Purpose: Typed, in 12-point Times New Roman font, max 500 words
- Final Report within two weeks of completion
- Address experience in Japan & how participation positions them for their future growth, success, career path, and/or further pursuit of studies.
- Typed, 12-point Times New Roman, English, 500 – 1,000 words, submitted to the Program Coordinator (ptjcprog@ualberta.ca).
