Exam rescheduling for students

If you have three exams held in four consecutive time blocks, you may be eligible to reschedule one of those exams.

Exam schedule

Holding up to three exams per day allows the university to ensure 63 teaching days in the academic year. It will also ensure that final exams are scheduled within the approved two-week examination period. Exams will be held at 8:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Your personal exam schedule can be found in Bear Tracks under the My Schedule & Exam tile; Final Exam Schedule page. The Fall 2026 exam schedule will be available in Bear Tracks on October 30.

Eligibility

To ensure that all students have a fair chance to perform at their best during examinations, the General Faculties Council approved the Exam Rescheduling Procedure. If you are scheduled to write three (3) or more final exams within four consecutive time slots, you are eligible to request rescheduling one of your exams.

If you are scheduled to write three or more final exams during four consecutive time slots, the Office of the Registrar (RO) will contact you directly to inform you of the option to reschedule.

  • Eligible: You are scheduled to write one exam at 8:30 a.m. and one at 5:30 p.m. on the same day, and your next exam is at 8:30 a.m. the next day.
  • Ineligible: You are scheduled to write one exam at 8:30 a.m. and one exam at 5:30 p.m. on the same day and your next exam is at 1:00 p.m. the next day.

Eligible students will be notified by email on October 30. If after this date, you have not received an email and you believe you are eligible, please contact the Student Service Centre.

Implications to Consider

Choosing to reschedule

You can request to reschedule any of the three exams held within four consecutive time slots. It is at your discretion to decide which eligible exam you would like to request to reschedule. The RO will contact you if you are eligible to reschedule your exam.

The decision to request a rescheduled exam is your choice. If you do not apply for a rescheduled exam by the deadline, you will write your exams as indicated on the final exam schedule. If you are not interested in rescheduling any exams, you do not need to take any action.

Dates for rescheduled exams

Efforts will be made to hold rescheduled exams no later than December 22 in the Fall term and April 30 in the Winter term. In some cases, exams may be rescheduled to the next semester.

Take-home finals and departures from the official exam schedule

The Exam Rescheduling Procedure only applies to final exams that are expected to be held within the term’s official final exam period (as defined in the Academic Schedule). Take-home final exams and any departures from the final exam schedule are not eligible for rescheduling.

Accommodations

Exam accommodations already requested by the accommodated exam request deadline will be automatically transferred to any exams rescheduled through this procedure.

Grades

If your application to reschedule an exam is approved and you do not withdraw from the class, a grade of IN (Incomplete) may appear on your transcript. Your grade will be updated once the rescheduled exam is written and graded.
