Access & borrow materials from the U of A Library

The University of Alberta Library is here to support your learning and research with access to over 7 million titles and 10 million volumes in both print and electronic formats including books, e-books, journals, databases, articles, multimedia and technology. Explore rare and special collections, digitized and archived materials as well as scholarly materials from across the world. You can search the catalogue, borrow materials, place holds, and access e-resources remotely. The Library also offers course materials and online reading lists, interlibrary loans, equipment lending and expert research support. Accessibility services offer alternative formats, assistive technologies and enhanced access to collections such as HathiTrust and the Internet Archive for users with print disabilities.

How to Access

  • Use the library search to find materials.
  • Log in with your CCID and password to view the full collection or place a hold.
  • Access digital materials online or retrieve physical items at library locations.
  • Borrow available books and physical items at a kiosk or by using the Library checkout app.
  • Request assistance via Ask Us if needed.
  • Manage your borrowing, renew items or pay fees with My Account.
  • Return items to library locations or at after-hours drop off locations.
  • For accessibility needs, register and request alternate formats or tools.
