Couples therapy

Couples therapy supports partners who are experiencing relationship difficulties or who want to strengthen their relationship. A trained mental health clinician helps couples improve communication, better understand one another, and address relationship concerns. Common reasons for seeking couples therapy include communication issues, trust, life transitions, infidelity, intimacy challenges, loneliness, and mental health issues affecting the relationship

How to Access

1. Book an initial consultation by calling 780-492-5205 or visit 2-600 Students' Union Building (SUB) during business hours.
2. Attend joint initial consultation (both partners present), to receive assessment and recommendation for next steps.

September - April: Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
May - August: Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

What to Expect

Couples therapy provides confidential, professional, and evidence-based support delivered by qualified clinicians. Services are appointment-based and subject to availability, with initial assessment followed by short-term therapy or referral as appropriate.
Active participation required from both partners. CCS services are in high demand, with requests for service out pacing capacity, so students can expect referrals to community counselling will be provided when internal capacity is limited. It can take multiple attempts to book an IC.

  • Both partners must attend all couples therapy appointments
  • Due to high demand, ongoing therapy within the service may be limited
  • There are charges for No-show and late cancellation appointments
  • There may be fees associated with file releases and other documentation
