miyomahcihowin (Indigenous culture & wellness program)
miyomahcihowin, meaning “well-being” in nehiyawêwin (Cree), is an Indigenous student outreach program within the University of Alberta’s Wellness Supports team. The program creates culturally grounded spaces where Indigenous students can connect with community, culture, and wellness. miyomahcihowin offers a range of activities throughout the year, including cultural workshops, creative sessions, social gatherings, and mental health discussion circles. Through partnerships with Indigenous student groups and campus partners such as First Peoples’ House, the program supports access to wellness resources that honour Indigenous identities, knowledge, and lived experiences, while fostering belonging, connection, and holistic well-being.
