Pre-Submission Review
Enrolment Registry FOR PEEr REview, Budget Justification Review AND MORE
SSHRC Insight Grant 2026 Competition
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Research Partner Network are pleased to offer faculty member applicants a set of resources (including internal peer review, a budget justification review, and other forms of assistance) to support applications for the Insight Grant 2026 competition. Past experience shows that pre-submission feedback helps to improve an applicant’s chances of competition success. This program contributed to position the UofA second in SSHRC funding across Canada. Our services helped several researchers like you to achieve their goals, read this note in the Quad to learn more about impact. *Please also note that pre‑enrolment is mandatory as of September 11, 2026 onward for SRIF Pool B bridge funding.
The Research Partners are here to help--please get in contact with Craig Taylor (craig.taylor@ualberta.ca) if you have a particular query on your IG grant preparation.
The College has established a panel of volunteer peer reviewers who are willing to read a final draft of your application. Many of our volunteers are successful grant recipients and/or past members of SSHRC merit review committees. If you’d like to serve as a peer reviewer, please get in touch with your Vice/Associate Dean of Research or Oliver Rossier (orossier@ualberta.ca).
The budget justification reviews will be carried out by a team of staff from the College Office of Research and the Research Partner Network who will check for red flags, common mistakes, and ineligible expenses.
To take advantage of these services, you will need to have a high-quality, penultimate version of your application uploaded to the SSHRC Research Portal (do not click on “Submit”) so that you can share the preview PDF.
Please note that, while every effort is made to support all applicants, resources are limited, and full support cannot be guaranteed in all cases.
