Funding
Supporting trainees goes beyond providing access to laboratories and research infrastructure. SPP-ARC offers dedicated funding opportunities to help trainees develop new technical skills, gain specialized research experience, and prepare the next generation of researchers.
Travel & Training (TNT) Grants
Pandemic preparedness research is interdisciplinary, requiring expertise across multiple fields and technologies. Through the Travel and Training (TNT) Grant program, trainees can receive up to $20,000 to undertake specialized training at another institution or attend external technical workshops. This opportunity enables trainees to bring new expertise back to the university.
Summer Research Studentships
In partnership with the Alberta Innovates Summer Studentships Program, SPP-ARC supports three undergraduate students each year to complete research projects in SPP-ARC member laboratories. These studentships provide early research experience in therapeutics, vaccine development, and other areas relevant to pandemic preparedness.
