Winter 2022 Recruitment

The Winter 2022 Engineering Co-op Recruitment will soon be underway. For your reference here is an outline of key information for participation in this recruitment. Please read this carefully.

New this year: Co-op Recruitment using campusBRIDGE

Engineering Co-op has moved to the University of Alberta's enterprise recruitment platform, campusBRIDGE. Starting Tuesday, September 7, 2021, the Engineering Co-op module will be available to students in campusBRIDGE: students will be able to upload documents and apply for jobs using the new platform at that time. Additional information about the Engineering Co-op module and the co-op recruitment within campusBRIDGE will be available soon. 

The Winter 2022 recruitment will continue until all students have been placed. 

Recruitment Notes

  • Please closely review all positions prior to applying. Contact the Employer Relationship Manager (ERM) for each posting with any questions before applying. You could be placed in any job you apply to very quickly.
  • If you interview and find a large disparity from what you read in the posting and wish to be removed from consideration, you will need to contact the ERM within 24 hours of the interview. You must have a compelling reason for the removal to be allowed.
  • Students will be granted 48 hours maximum from the time the offer was sent to respond to an offer. Should you fail to respond in time, the offer is automatically declined and extended to the next ranked candidate. Students are expected to check their email inbox and rankings in campusBRIDGE frequently. We advise checking your campusBRIDGE rankings twice daily if you have recently completed interviews. Failure to respond to an offer in time will not be considered an acceptable decline
  • Students are expected to accept offers for jobs they have applied to. Should you decline multiple offers, you will be asked to meet with a co-op team member and may have your access to campusBRIDGE co-op jobs revoked for the balance of the work term. In this circumstance, you will be expected to find suitable employment on your own and will not be eligible to have the work term waived.
  • We encourage you to look outside of campusBRIDGE for work as well. If you find an appropriate position, please let us know as soon as possible. Please ensure you keep track of all the jobs that you apply for on your own. Check out these resources to assist you to find a job.

Important To Know

  • The Co-op website remains the best place to access current information about the Winter Recruitment.
  • Job postings go live: September 7, 2021.
  • Application deadlines can be any day of the week and may be sent as a packet or immediately after you apply depending on employer preference. Please read job descriptions very carefully.
  • Recruitment continues until all students are placed. While the anticipated start date for Winter term jobs is the first week of January, start dates may be delayed by some companies. Start dates until early February are acceptable. Should you have a proposed start date for mid-February please consult an ERM as this may be considered acceptable in certain cases.

Important To Do Now

  1. Access the Resume Guidelines and Template in the Co-op Toolkit and/or use vMock* to help update your resume. *Additional information about vMock will be available soon.
  2. Obtain a copy of your unofficial transcript from Bear Tracks.
  3. Once you have an updated copy of your resume and transcript, upload the documents to campusBRIDGE on or after September 7, 2021. 
  4. Please note we have asked that employers use September 14 as the first close date, however we can’t guarantee that some jobs will not close earlier.
