ASI draws together leading academics, industry representatives, and management professionals to form a dynamic and highly-engaged research and development network. Working in tandem, our Scientific Team, Operations and Management Team, Scientific Advisory Committee and Strategic Advisory Board guide and support our future-forward research.
Scientific Team
ASI includes 30 internationally-recognized researchers from across Alberta’s educational institutions who work with automated systems.
Operations and Management Team
The ASI operations and management team maintains operations and searches out new opportunities to grow ASI’s horizons.
Scientific Advisory Committee
Made up of esteemed academic and industry members from across Canada, the SAC ensures that ASI’s research is at the forefront of the field.

The SAB is comprised of industry, government stakeholders and university directorate who steer the ASI’s mission.
Personnel
Although knowledge, understanding and applications are vital outcomes to the research undertaken through the ASI, the heart of our organization is our people. Our core is a rich network of leading academics, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, research assistants and technicians. Working within teams on specialized projects to advance the knowledge and use of automated systems and machine learning, our personnel bring expertise and experience covering important social and economic application areas such as control systems, transportation, health, UAVs and industrial repair.
