Field School

Field School 2022 (coming soon)

Q: Where will the 2022 IPIA Field School be held?

We are planning a community-based, Indigenous archaeology field school in partnership with local Indigenous communities near the city of Edmonton. This would not require students to travel outside of the Edmonton region to participate.

Q: When will the 2022 IPIA Field School be held?

The current plan is for the IPIA Field School to be held from May 24-- June 24, 2022. Final plans will be contingent on approval through the University of Alberta COVID-19 response. If the course is approved to move ahead, information will be announced here and through social media.

Q: How do I register for the 2022 IPIA Field School?

Typically, applications for the course open in January with a late February deadline for applications. Once applications are approved, participants will be able to register in Anthr 396.

Q: How much will the 2022 IPIA Field School cost?

There is a mandatory fee of $1500 for the field school, in addition to the cost of tuition. If this is a barrier to you, please reach out to the Director of IPIA to discuss options.
