Remembering Dr. Armour

About Dr. Armour

Dr. Armour passed away in early 2019, leaving an incredible legacy behind that we are committed to continuing in her honour. Dr. Armour was the founding co-chair of WISEST (Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science and Technology) an organization with more than forty years of experience supporting and promoting inclusion and diversity in sciences. Known for her quiet humility, sincere interest in others, and "do science as if people mattered" approach, Dr. Armour was a guiding light and fervent supporter of women and girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour Memorial Celebration - Nov 25, 2020

Donate in memory of Dr. Armour

We held a virtual celebration in honour of Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour, sponsored by Shell Canada. There was a presentation about Margaret-Ann and her contributions to WISEST, followed by some general networking.

Edmonton artist Amy Dixon (@amydixonart on Instagram) created a special painting on behalf of WISEST in memory of Margaret-Ann, which was showcased at the event and auctioned off after the event to the highest bidder. The painting features Margaret Ann's favourite flower, orchids, and her favourite colour, purple. Amy Dixon generously donated all of the proceeds to WISEST. Thanks, Amy!
