Assessment Gap for Deaf Children

U of A Research Study Needs Your Help!

Dr. Lynn McQuarrie and the research team at the University of Alberta's Minerva Deaf Research Lab (MDRL) are conducting a pilot study to evaluate the effectiveness of a newly created American Sign Language (ASL) assessment tool for Deaf children between the ages of 4 to 7. Currently there are no assessment measures that are appropriate for measuring ASL language skills in young Deaf students. To better support Deaf children's reading development, these kinds of assessments are needed.

How can you help?

We are looking for signing Deaf children between the ages of 4 - 7 to help us evaluate the ASL assessment tool.
