Roland K. Pirker, the President of the Austrian Canadian Council, graciously organized the donation of the private library of the Austro-Canadian historian Leo J. Hammerschmid to the University of Alberta. Consisting of sixteen boxes of materials, these books will be known as the "Pirker-Hammerschmid Collection" and the majority of the materials will be available through the University of Alberta and catalogued in its on-line catalogue. Duplicate copies are to be found in the Wirth Institute Library. This donation enriches the university's already substantial holdings in the field of Austrian and Central European history and the Wirth Institute is grateful to Mr. Pirker for his contribution.
