2015 Innsbruck Faculty Exchange Selection Announced

The Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies is pleased to announce the Innsbruck Faculty Exchange selection for 2015.

Dr. Srilata Ravi is Professor of French at the University of Alberta's Augustana campus. She specializes in Francophone literary and cultural studies. Her primary research interests are in comparative francophonies; mobility studies; postcolonial studies; and literary and cultural histories of the Indian Ocean. Her publications include Rainbow Colors : Literary ethno-topographies of Mauritius (2007); Ecritures mauriciennes au féminin : penser l'altérité (with V. Bragard, 2011); Rethinking Global Mauritius (2013), Autour de l'œuvre de Gérard Bouchard : Histoire sociale, sociologie historique, imaginaires collectifs et politiques publiques (with C. Couture, 2015).

At the University of Innsbruck, Dr Ravi will give lectures on 'Globalization and immigration in Francophone literatures', 'Francophone women's autobiographies', and 'Postcolonial translations'. She is currently working on a research project that investigates the trope of linguistic, cultural and transnational mobilities in contemporary literature and film in the French language. While in Innsbruck she will also be conducting research on the work of Fiston Mwanza Mujila, a Congolese writer and musician who lives in Austria and writes in French and German.
