2015/2016 Polish Doctoral Fellow Jakub Zarzycki receives PhD

The Wirth Institute extends heartiest congratulations to former Polish Doctoral Research Fellow, Jakub Zarzycki who successfully defended his thesis "Italiani immaginati. A study of Polish iconosphere from 1861-1914 - paintings, graphic arts, illustrated journals" in Rome on September 30th of this year.

Dr. Zarzycki was a PhD Candidate of The Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences, University of Wrocław, Poland and The Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (co-tutela programme). He joined the Wirth Institute in September of 2015 and, in addition to his doctoral studies, spent a year in Edmonton liaising with the local Polish community. Along with his wife, Karolina Dzimira-Zarzycka, he hosted the popular weekly radio show "Visiting the Studio" which showcased the most important Polish artists from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
