2015-2016 Wirth Polish Doctoral Research Fellow Jakub Zarzycki appointed assistant professor at the University of Wrocław

14 July 2020

2015-2016 Wirth Polish Doctoral Research Fellow Jakub Zarzycki was recently appointed assistant professor at the University of Wrocław in the Department of Art History. Zarzycki says his “promising international experience” — gained in part during his tenure in Edmonton as a Wirth Fellow — gave him a competitive edge in the open call for the position.

An art historian, Polish philologist, curator and critic of contemporary art, Zarzycki, along with his wife Karolina Dzimira-Zarzycka, were active in the Polish community during their time in Edmonton and hosted a weekly radio show in Polish focusing on contemporary art. In September of 2020, the duo will be working with the Wirth Institute once again to develop an exciting new online series entitled “Art around 1900 in Central Europe”.

The Wirth Institute congratulates Jakub on this promising achievement and wishes him continued success!
