Updated COVID-19 Travel Directive
In response to changing federal travel restrictions and the ongoing risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, an updated U of A COVID-19 Travel Directive is now in effect. The aim of the directive is to protect the health, safety, and wellness of our university and greater Alberta communities while helping ensure continuity of university operations.
Health Canada approval of Pfizer vaccine for ages 5-11
Today (November 19), Health Canada announced it has approved the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11. The University of Alberta will be assessing campus-based activities and university requirements for that age group, with more information to come.
Vaccination proof and other info for visitors to U of A campuses
To help support the safety of our community, visitors coming to U of A campuses are required to be fully vaccinated or have a valid exemption and should be prepared to show their proof of vaccination or exemption upon request. In line with Government of Alberta vaccination proof requirements, U of A campus visitors are to present an Alberta government QR code alongside a separate government ID to verify their vaccination status and ID -- with few exceptions. More information for visitors to campus is available here.
Proof of vaccination for food service areas on campus
Similar to other dining and food services in greater Alberta, current Chief Medical Officer of Health Orders for post-secondary institutions require Government of Alberta Vaccination QR codes be the primary proof of vaccination used for food services and cafeteria style areas. Other accepted forms of proof of vaccination for these areas include:
- Other provincial vaccine records
- First Nation vaccine records
- ArriveCan app and valid international travel identity document
- Canadian Armed Forces vaccine records
- U.S. Military proof of vaccination and ID card
Please note that the next regular COVID-19 update is scheduled for December 3.
