About the University of Alberta Botanic Garden
Just 15 minutes southwest of Edmonton, the University of Alberta Botanic Garden is an award-winning attraction featuring 240 acres of stunning property.
Highlights include the Aga Khan Garden, a 4.8 hectare Mughal-inspired garden with secluded forest paths, granite and limestone terraces, still pools that reflect the prairie sky, waterfalls and streams. Other standouts are the tranquil Kurimoto Japanese Garden, the Tropical, Temperate and Arid Showhouses, Indigenous Peoples Garden and an extensive collections area. Established in 1959, the Garden is home to beautifully diverse plant collections that thrive in our northern climate.
The Garden hosts educational programs for children and adults, special events, cultural programming and private facility rentals.
The Garden is open in all seasons, with some closures and reduced hours in winter and early spring.
