Bursaries

SUMMER CAMP BURSARIES

We are able to offer full and partial bursaries to children and youth in need for our summer camps. If you know a family who would love to participate in our summer camps but is unable to due to financial reasons, please encourage them to apply for a bursary.

Partial bursary recipients pay exactly half the cost of the program and receive credit for the other half. Full bursary recipients pay $25.00 to cover the cost of materials and parking pass, and receive full credit for the program.

Due to high demand, only one bursary is allowed per participant this year. In order to apply for a bursary, please fill out the bursary application form instead of registering for a camp. If the bursary application is approved, the Fred Otto DiscoverE program will manually register the participant in the camp using the information collected in the form.

Bursary applications will open at 8:00AM on February 3rd for Summer 2026!

To apply, please follow the following instructions:

  1. Guardians must FIRST fill out the summer camp bursary application.
  2. After submitting the form, please submit your notice off assessment for the previous financial year to discover@ualberta.ca. It will be Line 15000 on most assessment documents (this must be submitted before a bursary application can be processed)
  3. Please allow our Customer Experience team 1-3 business days to process your submission.
  4. If successful, our team will send your filled out information to our Registration team (activityreg@ualberta.ca) to register your camper in the camps of your choosing. You will be contacted by that team in the coming days about filling out forms for your campers.
  5. Our team will contact you if you received a full, partial or no bursary after the application has been processed.

Please Note: Guardians are not allowed to register their campers and then apply for a bursary, if their camper is found to have already been enrolled in our summer camps, they will no longer be eligible for a bursary.

Applications for summer camp bursaries must be filled out and submitted (including proof of income documentation) no later than:

  • June 1 for summer camps in July
  • July 1 for summer camps in August
