MPH General Public Health Program
Overview
The Master of Public Health (MPH) in General Public Health aims to equip students to be capable practitioners who are prepared to work in governmental, non-governmental, community-based and industry settings across different sectors and jurisdictions. Students who complete the MPH in General Public Health program will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to take on key public health functions including assessment, planning, action implementation and evaluation.Benefits
Students in the MPH in General Public Health Program will benefit from a variety of classroom and experiential learning opportunities that facilitate skill development and career readiness. For instance, students will engage in problem-based learning, case studies, real-time experiential learning projects with partner organizations, competency driven assessment and immersive applied practice experiences. In doing so, students will explore their potential career options, connect with community and industry partners and bring their classroom experiences into applied settings!

Eligibility Requirements
- The MPH in General Public Health program is a master’s degree and has specific admissions requirements including the completion of a previous baccalaureate degree, a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants are encouraged to have prior experience in a public health-related field.

Recognition + Compensation
- The various experiential learning opportunities that are embedded into the MPH program are for credit opportunities for which students receive academic credit.
Duration, Format + Location
- The MPH in General Public Health program required 45 units of coursework, 30 units are required courses and 15 are elective courses. Students may fulfill their elective credits by completing a graduate embedded certificate.
- Students have a maximum of 6 years to complete this program, however, full-time students should be able to complete the program in 24 months and most part-time students can complete in 36-months.
- MPH coursework is completed on-campus and in-person. Experiential learning opportunities such as immersive applied practice experiences will vary depending on the opportunity. These opportunities may be in-person or remote.
- Every MPH student is required to complete a 6-credit Field Practicum (SPH 598) involving 400 hours of mentorship from a designated preceptor in a host organization. Typically, students complete these 400 hours over 13 weeks (4 days/week), allowing for the concurrent completion of one academic course.
