Important information about new group benefits providers

23 July 2026

The university is moving to new providers for your group benefits in 2027. Your benefit plans are not changing, they will be administered and delivered by new partners.

The health and well-being of our community is a top priority, and the university understands how important group benefits are. This move continues the current benefits delivery and plans, while ensuring the university has performed due diligence in assessing available providers and finding the best fit for the university community.

We encourage you to visit the Benefits Provider Transition webpage for more information, including FAQs and benefit categories and timelines. The provider transition will begin this fall and conclude in April 2027.

As plan members will need to familiarize themselves with the new providers’ web portals and processes, the university will provide information and resources throughout the transition. Information sessions will be held later this fall to learn about the new provider tools, and provide an opportunity to ask questions. No further action is required from you at this time.

The Benefits Provider Transition webpage will be updated with additional information throughout the transition to new providers. Updates will also be shared through direct emails and the Digests.

If you have questions not addressed in the FAQs, please reach out to group.benefits@ualberta.ca.

Sincerely,

Marcie Chisholm, AVP HRHSE & CHRO
