Congratulations to Cavafy Award Winner Iman Mersal

MLCS Professor Iman Mersal recently received the 2026 Cavafy Award for poetry. The Cavafy Award is a literary prize given to distinguished writers from Greece and Egypt and is named after the Greek poet Constantine Cavafy who spent his life in Egypt. Mersal is the first Egyptian female poet to receive the Cavafy Award. Mersal’s niece accepted the award on her behalf on February 17, 2026 at the Cairo Opera House. Learn more here.
