Congratulations to 2026 “Hvylia / Dalğa” Award recipient Alla Nedashkivska
9 October 2026
We are delighted to celebrate Professor Alla Nedashkivska, who has received the 2026 “Hvylia / Dalğa” Award for her outstanding work promoting the Ukrainian language around the world.
Hvylia / Dalğa means “wave” in Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar, respectively, and reflects the award’s recognition of the impact and reach of the work of the professionals and academics it honours. The award is highly selective, with only one or two laureates chosen each year from nominations received worldwide, in its Ukrainian- and Crimean Tatar-language categories.
Presented by the Ukrainian Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the award recognizes Professor Nedashkivska in the category of "Teachers of Ukrainian as a Foreign Language at Institutions of Higher Education in Ukraine or Abroad."
Through her teaching, research, educational resources, and initiatives such as the international summer school Ukrainian Language Through Living Culture, Professor Nedashkivska has made an important contribution to Ukrainian language education and to the internationalization of Ukrainian studies.
We are also pleased to acknowledge that the Kule Folklore Centre nominated Professor Nedashkivska for this award.
