Student Life

About the University of Alberta

Founded in 1908, the University of Alberta is one of Canada's leading research and teaching institutions. The U of A also offers a great campus life with a beautiful walkable campus, and outstanding facilities for intramural and recreational sports. There's an active graduate students' association and hundreds of student groups that appeal to a variety of interests.

The School of Public Health is located in the Dianne and Irving Kipnes Health Research Academy (formerly known as the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy) on the university's North Campus. We're just minutes from the North Saskatchewan river valley, North America's largest stretch of urban parkland. Nearby, historic Whyte Avenue is lined with boutiques, pubs and coffee shops. And, just across the river, downtown Edmonton hosts the Arts District, including the Winspear Centre of Music, the Art Gallery of Alberta, the Royal Alberta Museum and the Citadel Theatre.
