Teach in Innsbruck: Faculty Exchange

29 September 2011

The Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies is pleased to announce that the University of Alberta's Faculty Exchange Agreement with the University of Innsbruck, Austria, will be put into effect again this year. "The University of Innsbruck was founded in 1669 and is one of Austria's oldest universities. Today, with over 26,000 students and 4,000 staff, it is western Austria's largest institution of higher education and research." (From the university website at: http://www.uibk.ac.at/)

By the terms of this agreement, each university sends a visiting professor to the other for a period of about one month. Airfare is paid by the sending university and accommodation and a small honorarium are paid by the host university. One faculty member will be sent to Innsbruck in May, 2012 (for a 4-week teaching block in the University of Innsbruck's Spring Semester). Faculty members from all disciplines within the Faculty of Arts are invited to apply. Knowledge of German, while an asset, is not a requirement. Teaching will be carried out either in English or German according to the wishes of the visiting faculty member.

Faculty members wishing to apply should send a detailed C.V. together with a letter indicating desire to take advantage of this exchange and specifying in some detail possible subjects of instruction and brief course descriptions to:
