Process Control & Systems Engineering

Process control and systems engineering focuses on examining the dynamic behaviour of systems, and how best to manipulate those systems to provide desired outcomes. The primarily objective is to develop systems that work with improved efficiency, effectiveness and safety. Nearly every industrial process employs process control, establishing its relevance, but its reach extends beyond industrial systems: the principles are applicable in diverse fields such as biomedical systems and systems biology, medicine and economics, for example.

Our process control and systems engineering group is internationally renowned and conducts world leading research while leveraging machine learning/artificial intelligence and the big data available in today’s world to make significant advances in the optimization and control of industrial processes in diverse areas such as energy production, biofuel and biochemical production, carbon capture and storage, precision agriculture, biomedical systems and the monitoring of pipeline and water network systems.
