FUBiS is an intensive, academic program through which students can earn credits that may be counted towards their degrees at their home institutions. FUBiS sessions run for 4 to 6 weeks.
FUBiS offers intensive and semi-intensive German language classes at up to five different proficiency levels. In addition FUBiS offers subject classes on various class topics. Most classes are held in English by distinguished German and international faculty.
The FUBiS program offers students many choices:
- Participation in either one semi-intensive German class or in one subject class.
- Intensive German language classes. These classes meet every weekday and allow students to focus on and thus considerably improve their German skills.
- Combination of language and subject classes (term II/III). This allows students to improve their language skills as well as further their knowledge of a subject matter.
- Combination of two subject classes (term II/III) which may count toward a major or minor at the home institution.

Students can choose to take a combination of semi-intensive German language and subject classes, two subject classes, or intensive German language classes. FUBiS also offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including a visit to the Reichstag Building and the Federal Parliament, river boat tour through Downtown Berlin, and weekly Movietime presenting popular and well-known German movies. There are also optional excursions at an extra cost.
Please keep in mind that typically ECTS credits are divided in half when transferring back to UAlberta 6 ECTS = *3 UAlberta.

FUBiS Program Fee:
Early registration: 200 € (approximately $300 CAD)
After April 4, 2020 (Group 1) or May 23, 2020 (Group 2): 250 € (approximately $375 CAD)
FUBiS Tuition Fees:
Group 1: 1,650 € - 2,475 € (approx. $2,500- $3,720 CAD)
Group 2: 1,100 € - 1,650 € (approx. $1,650 - $2,500 CAD)
Group 1: 635 € - 995 € (approx. $1,200 - $1,500 CAD)
Group 2: 420 € - 695 € (approx. $680 - $970 CAD)

Students are responsible for their own travel to Berlin. Students are also responsible for any additional costs including medical coverage, books and supplies, food, entertainment and incidental expenses.
FUBiS arranges appropriate off-campus accommodation for the duration of the program. Accommodation options can be chosen during the registration process, and is subject to availability. Students can choose from: a single room in shared apartments at student dorms; a single occupancy apartment; hostels; homestays, campus hotel. Amenities and costs vary depending on the type of accommodation chosen.
